Huh? big table? it's 6-max.. and if he would've raised there, he would have a big chance to be in position, for the rest of the hand.. gus and phil were both playing tight..
imo, AJ is defo a raise in a 6-max game, unless there's a lot of action before you.

{shrug} Maybe it's only me that has experienced it, but in a six seat game, there's almost always someone who has a queen or king, or even a made hand (pocket pair). AJ off suit is only a strong hand, but it's not a *made* hand. Pre-flop and out of position when you're playing for the long haul, it's *feasible* to fold AJ off suit to a strong pre-flop raise. Is it an*easy* fold? Not really. Is it always the right move? Nope. But it isn't always the right move to play it, either. ymmv

Table is tight because it's a tournament, not a cash table. You can say what ever you like but in cash I always play looser then tournament. In cash, you just rebuy when you have a bad beat, in tournament you are done...
